January’s Member of the Month spotlight goes to one of our amazing husband and wife duos: Nikki & Jerime Benzow!
This is a unique month… typically we choose 1 member to spotlight for this honor. This month, we received a ton of nominations from our HPCF Ambassador Members as well as our Coaching staff, who all nominated Nikki & Jerime!
If you do not know them, or if you haven’t had the pleasure to meet them yet… let me just say that they are two of the most humble people you will ever meet. From the moment you meet them, you’ll immediately see the love in their hearts as they immediately embrace you as a friend.
Jerime & Nikki embody everything about our HPCF Core Values and are always very community focused. From the first time you walk through the doors, or if you’ve been around for a while, they will treat you with that same friendly smile.
Congratulations Jerime and Nikki! Continue being awesome!
Learn more about Jerime:
NAME: Jerime Benzow
Favorite WOD/Metcon: the long ones. Sustained effort, high heart rate, heavy sweat, not sure how I’m going to make it through
Favorite Lift: over head squat. It makes me nervous and challenges me mentally
Favorite Cheat Meal: I don’t think I’m disciplined enough in my nutrition to consider it “cheating” but I really love Reese’s peanut butter cups.
Athletic Background:None really. I stopped playing organized sports at 13 years old and only started running and doing yoga when I quit smoking at age 33.
What you do for fun/hobbies?: my favorite things to do are: hanging out with our grandson, making art in our home, and enjoying our beautiful lake in the summer time.
Hobbies/Interests outside of the gym: my time outside of gym is spent seeking spiritual growth with friends and hanging out with family.
How long have you been CrossFitting?:5 months
How long have you be a Peak Performance Fitness Facility Member?5 months
How did you find CrossFit?: a friend encouraged Nikki to join and a month later she did the same for me
How has CrossFit changed your Life?: its changed my outlook on what it means to be fit and what that may look like as I get old
What is your biggest achievement so far, and what is your next big goal?: There isn’t a singular big achievement I don’t think. What I’ve noticed is an improvement of my strength and endurance. Being able to Rx WODs happens more frequently now. My goals are more long term. I would like to just remain committed to daily participation and life long health.
What is your favorite thing about Peak Performance Fitness Facility?: the fellowship. The friendly, inclusive spirit of the members is contagious!
Can you tell us 1 thing we don’t know about you?: I played the role of Jesus in Godspell in high school.
Have any advice for new members?: Go all in. Put yourself smack dab in the center of the herd and enjoy the ride.

Hobbies/Interests outside of the gym: I watch crime shows about serial killers if given some time alone.
How long have you been CrossFitting?: 6 months
How long have you be a Peak Performance Fitness Facility Member? 6 months
How did you find CrossFit? It was referred to me by a family member a few years back, I honestly did not know what to expect.
How has CrossFit changed your Life? It has changed my mindset about what I think I “can and cant do”, I believe that I am mentally more resilient. Overcoming fears and persevering through long Metcons is wonderful for your brain.
What is your biggest achievement so far, and what is your next big goal? This is a funny question.. I look back 6 months ago and my goal was to loose 5 lbs and be able to do 1 pullup. I can see where this is always going to be looking hindsight at things and working hard and realizing I am able to do all of the goals I set, if I show up. Biggest achievement I think is making the committed board every month that I have been coming. Next biggest goal, we signed up for the shipwrecked competition and I am freaking about this, so the next goal is to just show up and do it.
What is your favorite thing about Peak Performance Fitness Facility? Easy. The coaches and members.
Can you tell us 1 thing we don’t know about you? I don’t kill spiders or insects. I will actually pick up with bare hand and bring them to a safe spot, away from foot traffic.
Have any advice for new members? We all had our first month at the gym feeling awkward and out of shape. I love the new moto “#JustShowUp”.
