This month’s member spotlight is truly an inspiration to us all. Monica has been a member of Peak Performance Fitness Facility since we opened our doors back in 2017. She came to us from Mental Image CrossFit where she originally started her journey.
Monica is known for her sassy attitude, which when you first meet her may seem like she doesn’t like you… but once you get to know her, you’ll realize that she’s just having fun and enjoys a little banter. She is also full term pregnant, so we give her a little bit of slack.
Monica is married to Mr. Sasaki, also known and Brian (seen in the picture above). Both Brian and Monica have a pretty amazing CrossFit story.
Originally joining CrossFit to make some lifestyle changes, Monica has been consistent and making her fitness a priority. Even at 39 weeks pregnant, she is still coming! Maybe not performing all the workouts as she would like, but still none the less getting in and moving has been something amazing to watch! These workouts are difficult enough, so watching Monica do what she can do while pregnant is really amazing.
Monica, we are proud of you. Keep pushing and keep being amazing. You are an inspiration!

Favorite WOD/Metcon: That’s a hard one… I love the girl WODs and especially kettlebell swings and clean and jerks!
Favorite Lift: Clean and Jerk
Favorite Cheat Meal: Pizza and currently mac and cheese with hot dogs 🤰🏼🤰🏼🤰🏼

Athletic Background: Lots of things! I played soccer for a long time and swam!
Hobbies/Interests outside of the gym: I am obsessed with my kitten, Kona! I am also a die hard Packer and Badger fan!
What’s 1 thing we don’t know about you (that you don’t mind sharing)?: I was born in Elizabeth City, North Carolina and I actually have Scoliosis! Crossfit has helped strengthen my back so many people have no idea anymore!
Why did you start?: We started losing weight for the wedding and became obsessed!
Why do you keep coming back?: The community first of all and I LOVE how I can push myself farther than I ever thought I could!
How long have you been a member of Peak Performance Fitness Facility?: November, 2015 (Originally Mental Image)
How did you find CrossFit?: Fredo! We went to Shogun for dinner and he talked us into trying it. Brian died during a community Saturday WOD and then tried to talk me into going the next time… I said are you serious?! You died last time!! And crabbed the whole way to the gym…. when we got in the car I asked when we were going back!!
How has CrossFit changed your Life?: SO much! We’ve become so much healthier and have made some incredible friends
What is your biggest achievement so far, and what is your next big goal?: Biggest achievement (in crossfit) is going to Granite Games 2 years ago with Liz and Hannah! Now we’re all mommas and loving it!!
What is your favorite thing about Peak Performance Fitness Facility?: All our friends! 🥰
Have any advice for new members?: Just stick with it! It is so incredible how much you improve every week without even realizing it!
