Each month we like to recognize 1 member of either gym who stands out among the rest of the crowd. Each of the members we choose to highlight hold true to Peak Performance’s Core Values, which are: “Happy. Healthy. Community.”

Amanda was actually nominated by her fellow class-mates… Which has ONLY happened 1 other time before! She must be doing something right if her classmates wanted to give her a shout out! Thanks Amanda, and keep kicking butt!

Fight gone bad.(I like the circuit style of the workout) and “weightlifting” days

Favorite Cheat Meal:
Prior to joining, I attended several gyms but never committed. Longest I attended a gym consecutively was probably for 4-5 months. Other then that my athleticism is/was pretty limited.
Hobbies/Interests outside of the gym:
Spending time with my family, traveling, tying new experiences, photography, crafting.
How long have you been CrossFitting?:
Almost one year- joining HarborPark was my first time ever trying Crossfit!
How long have you be a Peak Performance Fitness Facility Member?
Almost my one year anniversary!!!! 🙂
How did you find CrossFit?
I’ve followed HarborPark through social media but never took the leap to attend a class by myself. I have a relative who is a member and attended regularly. She attended a Saturday and brought me along and has encouraged me along the way. I eventually branched off on my own to fit my schedule and don’t have class with her normally anymore, but I’m very appreciative for her continued support! Shout out to Mary Hill
How has CrossFit changed your Life?
Crossfit has created new experiences for me physically, brought new friendships and has positively challenged me both mentally and physically.
New experiences: Before Crossfit I never attempted a 5k, running just for a minute was difficult enough. That’s something I was pushed/ encouraged to try during a WOD and I completed it. The 5k may have not been fast or pretty but the part that I completed it- was a very proud moment. Another example would be competing in Rugged Maniac. I was always so envious of the people who would compete, wishing one day I could be physically able or have the courage to try. I believe Crossfit helped me build some strength and stamina to compete. Being able to be finish, again not the best or the prettiest, but finishing was another proud moment. Which brings me to friendships- I’ve meet wonderful people, who right away at even my very first class have made me feel welcomed and never made me feel like a “new” member. These coaches and members have created a wonderful community that feels more like family. Encouraging and giving support every single day.
What is your biggest achievement so far, and what is your next big goal?
So far my biggest achievement I would say is committing to almost a year of making strides to a healthier and better me. I still may not be where I want to be physically, but I know each day is a step to reaching my goals. I’ve also enjoyed the “smaller” achievements along the way as well!- I would never have tried prior to joining Crossfit. I.e box jumps, headstands, sand bag tosses…the list could go on. 🙂
My next big goal would be to dial in on my nutrition, really understand more of what my body personally needs.
What is your favorite thing about Peak Performance Fitness Facility?
Coaches and other members. The support, knowledge and encouragement not only given at the “box” but outside of it as well as been impeccable. I’m pushed and encouraged by these individuals to go out of my comfort zone, they believe in me more then I believe in myself some days!
Have any advice for new members?
From personal experience I would tell new members to always remember your “why” what brought you to start? This has been my motivation to remind myself on days I don’t want to get out of bed at 5:00 am. Also, at times you may find yourself comparing your abilities to others. You can easily become your worst critic and get caught up in those moments where you feel like you should be at a different place in the workouts or could be doing better. Its important to focus on yourself and your skill level, you know your body best. Always be proud of those smaller milestones- one more rep, one more round or even attempting a new movement. These smaller milestones will continue motivation and will lead you to greater success in and out of the gym.
