Resilience… How CrossFit keeps her going strong & how you should learn from her.

Resilience… How CrossFit keeps her going strong & how you should learn from her.

Desiree Farchione is a founding member at Peak Performance Fitness Facility. She was one of the first 10 members to join the gym when the doors officially opened in 2015, and she has been there ever since. If you ask Des, “What she loves best about CrossFit?” she will tell you, “All of it.”

In our eyes, CrossFit is more than just a fitness program or regime. It can be a powerful tool to build confidence, a stronger mindset, self worth, community, or even just a tool to lose weight or get stronger.

Des’ story began when she was a little girl and vowed to be a Police Officer; A very intense and demanding job. Des admits that she has always been kind of a fitness nut, but when her life took a turn for the worst and she fractured her spine in a training drill, she vowed to dedicate her life to “training for the unknown, and unknowable.”

Over the past 3 years, Des remains committed to her training, coming in to the gym 5 or more days a week to train. She isn’t just training for her aesthetics, but the rigors of her job demand it!

This past year Des was recognized by the Law Enforcement Technology magazine and in August featured Des’ fitness routine — and a photo of her — after seeking officers’ fitness photos in a national contest. You can see her story and photo of her working out in a weighted vest here: LET Magazine

Des’ story is very inspiring, because she never gave up and continued to fight and she continues to do so daily.

So, what is the best part about CrossFit? Well, it’s up to you… Everyone has a story, and everyone has their own goals. Do you want to lose weight? Get stronger? Feel more confident? Look better in the mirror or for your partner? Or, maybe you job demands it of you… The truth is, this CrossFit thing is for everyone and anyone, the journey is up to you.
