Coach Dave Yandel is a Co-Owner and Head of Operations and has been CrossFitting since 2014.

Coach Dave is our resident injury & Mobility Specialist. He’s in charge of writing the gym’s modification program and helps athletes who deal with any type of injury or range of motion problem by modifying our daily program for any athlete that needs them due to range of motion or injury needs so they can continue to come into the gym and get a good workout!

Coach Dave has worked with athletes who have had back injuries from car accidents, to people with that fell on ice and are in a boot or cast! Just because you have a small obstacle, doesn’t mean you can’t come get a good workout!

Coach Dave also offers his services remotely, and has helped countless athletes by providing mobility programming for anyone who is dealing with a nagging injury or range of motion restriction. Coach Dave accomplishes this by completing a remote assessment form, a video call to discuss the issue, and then providing a full week’s worth of intense mobility program; stretching techniques and scrubbing or mashing techniques that are designed to alleviate pain and restrictions to get you back on your game, or tackling the issue that is holding you back!

Coach Dave also specializes in manual therapy, cupping and IASTM (Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Manipulation) which he uses to aid in the recovery, injury prevention and range of motion restriction.

Aside from working with injuries and mobility issues, Coach Dave loves helping others and showing them how CrossFit can change their lives for the better. “CrossFit changed my life,” he says. “I didn’t know it at the time, but I was in a dark place. I was an LE Officer. The job was full of negativity. I dealt with the worst of the worst and saw some horrific things day in and day out. When this is all you see, you begin to believe that the world is a bad place. When I joined CrossFit, I entered a new world. A world of belonging. I was instantly welcomed with open arms and never felt judged.”

Dave credits the CrossFit community and support of the people around him with making him feel like he had a new family. “CrossFit became my ‘3rd place’ as well as my passion. I saw how CrossFit helped me and I saw how it was helping others, too, seeing and hearing such amazing stories. The best part was, no matter where in the world I was, when I dropped into a box during vacation, I received that same warm welcome!”

One of the things that Dave loves the most is the ability to coach someone to achieve what they believed was once impossible and make it possible. “I love watching that transformation take place within someone,” he says, “where they become more empowered, more confident and believe they can achieve anything! These small changes and beliefs, then helps them achieve more happiness and a more fulfilled lives! This is why I love what I do.”

When not in the gym, Dave loves watching movies with his wife Corian and exploring new places. “We enjoy camping and just recently took up hiking. Also, I would consider myself a ‘foodie’ as I love to cook, eat and try new foods. I consider myself to be a bit of a wine connoisseur – I really enjoy wine tastings.”

Dave’s passion is evident to all who meet him. “I do what I do, and wake up every day with a smile on my face because I love showing people how they can overcome negative outside influences,” he says. “Showing people to believe in themselves and giving them inner strength and encouragement. I believe that I was put on this earth to help others and to change their lives. I believe CrossFit is the way I can fulfill this purpose.”
