Member Spotlight: Sherry Hammermiller

This month’s Member Spotlight goes to Sherry Hammermiller!

Sherry has quietly been with Peak Performance approaching 2 years now. During this time, we have had the pleasure to see Sherry’s transformation evolve; She has gained more confidence, become stronger, as well as some awesome weight loss!

Sherry has also been super consistent in ensuring she comes to the gym every day after work. Sherry explains that her gym time is her stress relief time.

Age:  38

Occupation: Information and Assistance Specialist

Favorite WOD/Metcon: The Triple Two

Favorite Lift: Deadlift

Favorite Cheat Meal:  Pepperoni pizza

Athletic Background: Nothing until I started CrossFit

Hobbies/Interests outside of the gym: I enjoy reading, going out with friends, and spending time with my four children.

Why did you start?: I was going through a rough time in my life, and needed positive coping skills.

Why do you keep coming back?: It’s helped me with my anxiety and depression. Also, it has helped build my self-esteem.

How long have you been a member of Peak Performance Fitness Facility?: Almost two years

How did you find CrossFit?: A friend introduced me and I immediately loved it.

How has CrossFit changed your Life?:  CrossFit has drastically changed my life in many different ways. First, it has held me accountable for my actions; if I don’t work out, I can’t get the results I desire. Second, it has helped me stay consistent in other areas of my life. And third, CrossFit has significantly decreased my depression and anxiety, increased my self -confidence on many different levels, and overall, made me a much more positive person.

What is your biggest achievement so far, and what is your next big goal?

My biggest achievement so far has been a significant increase in my overall body strength. My next big goal is to learn healthier eating habits and stick to them, and increase my upper body strength.

What is your favorite thing about Peak Performance Fitness Facility?:

I really like the positive energy and the encouragement from all staff members. The staff is always willing to help and is very knowledgeable and friendly.

Have any advice for new members?:

My advice is don’t give up! It can be intimidating and difficult in the beginning, but I promise, in the long run, it is totally worth it!
